Rounded up to 4, my rating was a 3.8.
TLDR; Happy with the work and roof, but SOO FRUSTRATING trying to communicate on details before a contract was signed.
I initially contacted Colby at Highroad Roofing for some demo work on my roof, to remove a solar structure the prior owner installed that was causing leaks in the house.
After this, we experienced a severe hail storm in the region, and though I had signed our initial contract, Colby reached out to inspect for hail damage. This was great, because as a first time home buyer, I hadn’t even considered the possibility of damage from the hail, and was considering replacing the entire roof at once.
Lo and behold, when Colby did his inspection, he did find hail damage, and I was able to work w/ my insurance to not just demo a section of the roof, but also redo the rest of the roof! I very much appreciated Colby reaching out for this, as I likely would’ve left it and never discovered it until it became a problem!
After contacting my insurance and getting the go ahead from them, I began the process of finalizing a contract for work… this is where the reasons for not giving a 5-star review come in.
Before I go into it, to be fair during this time there was severe hail throughout Wyoming and Colorado that led to many, many people looking for new roofs.
However, in the time after Colby inspected the roof for hail, and actually getting the updated contract signed, communication was INCREDIBLY frustrating.
While Colby was generally polite, and communicated that they were busier than normal with all the hail, it was incredibly difficult having any kind of real discussion on the project. Colby’s primary communication was through text, and often very one way. It felt like he wasn’t taking it seriously.
I’d often wait to hear any word on the project, finally receive a message and respond minutes later, only to go back to waiting days on end for any reply when I needed answers to be able to move forward in the process. I prefer having someone to SPEAK to. Even an email would’ve been better. Receiving texts with emojis in them did not inspire confidence in me that things were being handled well. It felt messy, and disorganized.
I understand if things get busy, but can you not hire an assistant to help with the administrative side of things when things are that busy?
All in all from the time Colby did the follow up inspection for hail damage, and the time I actually got a finalized quote that I could sign, was over 3 months (from Jun 8th to Sept 11th), mostly time spent waiting to hear back from Colby. I imagine all my concerns could’ve been resolved in a single 5 minute phone call, but instead it was dragged out over months, over countless texts covering brief bits of detail, with constant periods of waiting in between.
Nonetheless, upon receiving the finalized quote, I signed the contract, as I didn’t want any more delays trying to find another roofer at this point. Once I did, the remaining work (working w/ Andre) was painless and went much more smoothly. There was some delay getting the shingles, but Andre and another lady who reached out communicated as such, and once the shingles hit my property, Andre’s crew came out that weekend and replaced the roof in a single day w/ no issues. Roofers weren’t disruptive, and did a good job on the roof (I found a few plastic strips from the shingle adhesive in the yard, but easily picked up). They ran out of caps to finish the shed in the back, which Andre contacted me about after the main job, but it was nothing that impacted the water proofing of the roof, and Andre personally came out to finish it up the next weekend in 10 minutes.
All in all, happy with the work and roof, just SOOO FRUSTRATING trying to communicate any details of the project plan so we could get things started.
Highroad Roofing put a new roof over on our cabin up in Red Feather Lakes and did a great job. We need a framework built over our exiting flat roof to gain some pitch to help the snow melt off and other Roofing companies came out and would only do shingle replacement and told me to get a carpenter out to build the frame and call them when I wanted them to shingle. The owner of Highroad, Colby, came out and said he could do it all and gave us a fair price for the job and it was very apparent that Colby knew his stuff! Our project manager, Andre, did a great job communicating with us throughout the project and the finished job looks great!! We will definitely be recommending HighRoad to our friends!!
I submitted a request to multiple roofing companies and Highroad Roofing responded promptly and were very professional. Colby, the owner, was super with his communication – he even sent me a video to show me he was there (rental) and what he was doing. He provided a competitive bid the very same day!! I still haven’t been called back by some companies. I was very impressed with his service. We had a change of plans about doing the work – but we will be using him in the future when we need a roof. He came highly recommended from people we know and trust and we can see why!
My husband and I have used Colby and Highroad Roofing twice. Once to replace our home roof and later to replace the roofs on our outbuildings after a hail storm. He has installed both shingle and metal roofs for us. The quality of work is excelent and his team were professional and very clean. Colby is one of the nicest, politest people I have ever met. He is honest and fair and handled the insurance company with no problems. i would use him again.
Colby and Highroad Roofing are thoroughly responsible, honest, and responsive. The crew worked efficiently and did excellent work. (My non-professional opinion but also that of the guys who reinstalled the solar panels who were really impressed with the quality of both the shingles and the workmanship.) Colby is a genuinely good person and an excellent communicator. Don’t like hailstorms, but when (not if) we get hit again, I will definitely take the “high road” again.
