First of all, they told me that my heater has to be replaced for 15,000, that it couldn’t be fixed without signing up for a service plan, a repair service? The one that has to be replaced? I got someone else to look at it and said that most all parts can still be replaced. Next, I was signed up for a maintenance plan for which I never did. Lastly, the correspondence I’ve received is about an appointment I never made. Be careful and do your best to get a second opinion
Big thanks to our HVAC technician, Jim Shaner, for his thorough work. We had a lingering gas smell from our furnace that previous visits couldn’t figure out. Even though we were told everything was fine, our noses (and a handheld leak detector) said otherwise. When we called again, Jim really listened, checked everything carefully, and finally found the issue—a slow gas valve leak. He replaced it right then and there, giving us much-needed peace of mind. Really appreciate it!
Called for semi-annual check-up to ensure AC was working properly. I am a disabled senior citizen and was scammed into having an air scrubber and electrostatic air filter for the tune of over $2,800 in a 17-year-old HVAC unit that wiring was bear. Invoice states inspect electrical connections which were obviously in bad shape but still pushed for this air scrubber and electrostatic air filter. Unit did not function properly after that and they sent 2nd tech out who stated this should have never been installed in this unit. The UV light you have is sufficient. I have reported to Better Business Bureau for full refund and will also file with the court system. Only reason I’m giving a 1 star is because you can’t give zero. BEWARE!
No one has returned my multiple calls for another location. The service referenced below stopped the water from blowing out of the overflow for less than 5 months when water was on the floor from the hot water heater (as far as I know since I’m not in the basement everyday). When I called a few days ago to ask if someone would come out and honor their work or look at the issue, I was told a manager would call. Nothing.
They will overcharge and if the work is faulty? Good luck.
The following review was for the Audubon Location:
Service was wonderful…. But … Absolutely highway robbery. Almost $1000 for 1 hour of labor. If the item you have is working and not actively leaking, RUN, don’t walk the other way.
Again, the tech was professional, pleasant, and wonderful, he even applied a coupon for my service. It’s just a shame that the company thinks that charging that much is acceptable.
For reference, I had an expansion tank replaced and installed as part of my service. Over $700.
I can go to home depot today and buy the entire 40 gallon gas rheem hot water heater for $549…….
The expansion tank? Less than $50… There is a more expensive option slightly over $100 though…. But I was charged over $700 with labor.
The tech showed up after 9am and left around 10am, maybe a bit after? I’d like to hear how they justify this price gouging for labor. How much does the tech get paid per hour? Even if he got the entire difference, horizon is not looking out for the consumer in any way.
Edit: A week has passed since the company commented saying that someone would call. No one has called.
The technician from Horizon Services came to my property and looked into the HVAC. He said there is a crack in the heat ex-changer which will cost $5000 to repair. When I asked him to send me an email with the repair cost, he said he cannot do that. I looked up online and found it should cost between $1500 to $3000 to replace heat ex-changer and inducer. Later I received an invoice (Invoice No 4420493) from them for $89. Be careful before you request for any job from Horizon Services.
