We called several roofing companies and Mitchell Roofing offered the best price. Our old roof (layers of old shingles) was removed, and the new roof shingles were installed all in a matter of days. We absolutely love it! We did find several roofing tacks/nails around our home afterwards, even after they used their magnet tool to retrieve them. This might be common, I am not sure. I loved how we had access to photos as they worked.
We could see wood that had to be replaced without climbing a ladder! We have recommended Mitchell Roofing company to many friends and will continue to do so.
Mitchell Roofing came back with the lowest quote and the materials were delivered quickly and job was set to start within a few days of delivery. Job was completed in a very timely manner, not even two full days days with a lot more wood repair than expected. I loved getting the link when the job started with the updates on the roof with pictures to show how the work was coming along. Crew was professional and very tidy before they left. I absolutely love how quickly they worked and how incredible my house looks now, I am very impressed and would recommend this company to anyone looking to get a roof replaced.
Terrible customer service! I strongly recommend finding a different roofing company.
My neighbor and friend recently had his roof done. His house sits right next to our shared alley. While driving by during the installation, I unfortunately picked up a roofing nail in one of my tires. I was super annoyed, but I understand that accidents happen.
When I approached the head worker, Armando, to show him the nail in my tire and suggested that his company cover the repair cost, he tried to convince me it was a screw, not a roofing nail. My brother-in-law is a roofer, and I’ve been a carpenter for years—I know the difference between a roofing nail and a screw. Armando told me his boss would call me the next day.
Andy (the boss) did call, but he was incredibly disrespectful and condescending. He had no intention of paying for the repair and simply told me I was a “victim of circumstance.” Before we hung up, he said he would speak with his boss and see if a resolution was possible.
The next day, his boss, Helen, called. She was very polite, but she told me that “the powers that be” had decided not to cover my $32 repair bill because… they just don’t do that. Ironically, my neighbor—who had the roof installed—found enough discarded nails left behind by their workers in his driveway and our shared alley after the workers left to fill a bucket. This frustrated another neighbor so much that she decided not to use Mitchell Roofing Company for her own project.
If this is their level of service, what happens when you need help with a warranty or future repairs?
Additional edit: I have now included pictures as their response is to lie and evade all responsibility. These guys are liars and scumbags.
Heartbreak at 630.
After Hurricanes Helene and Milton in 2024, a friend of mine had recommended me to Mitchell Roofing because we had roof damage and it was time for a new roof. I contacted them and spoke to Josh. He was nice and professional. I had provided Mitchell $7,500 for materials in mid December. Over the next three months, Helen from the office updated me on the order status. I understand that it would take time to procure since many in our area had damage to their roofs so I was patient but to see other homes get fixed but ours being the last one to receive attention was upsetting.
On April 4th, 2025, our materials arrived and work was to begin on Monday morning of April 7th. The workers arrived that Monday on time and began to do their thing. At the time they were nice and courteous. It was around noon when an inspector arrived from the city of St. Pete. I’m still not clear on who called the inspector but It wasn’t long after the inspector arrived, he had put up a Stop Work Order as he had noticed that our roof, over the carport, had truss support damage. No further work could be done until a structural engineer drew up plans and fixes went in place. Josh had contacted me to update me on the happenings. At that time, I was stressed but he told me to not worry as they are able to fix Truss issues without the need of hiring an engineer and general contractor.
The following day arrived. The workers showed up late but understandable since it was rainy overnight. The workers had asked to have access to our attic to check out the remainder of the truss through the house. I was in a meeting at the time as I work from home but I could overhear them. They spoke in spanish thinking that I didn’t speak or understand spanish. I had clearly heard them say that, they’re f*d and laughed after only peeking into the attic for a few minutes. Over the years, only Spectrum, the AC company, and myself have been up in the attic. I’m not accusing the workers of what was written on the truss but I have no clue who or even why anyone would write that? I didn’t previously notice anything written on any of the trusses in our attic.
A few minutes after the workers left the attic, their supervisor, Andy arrived. He had said to me what his workers had relayed to him; There was too much truss damage for them to proceed. Soon after they all had abandoned the job.
Josh called me afterwards saying that he would put me in touch with a structural engineer to help fix the truss issues. As of this morning, nearly two weeks later, I still have not heard back from him.
What’s worst is, my mother had moved in with me because she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer late last year. I had promised her that she was safe here because we had a great roof contractor with Mitchell. On Tuesday evening, she had arrived back home. She had asked what happened since on Monday evening, I had told her that Mitchell would be coming back out to fix the truss and finish the roofing job. It didn’t happen; I had to let her know that Mitchell had abandoned the job. I could see her heartbreak, stress, and sadness on her face. I told her I was sorry but Josh would make it right by referring a structural engineer to get us moving again. She didn’t say anything other than she’s going to lay down as she wasn’t feeling well and this news wasn’t making her feel any better. I hugged her and said that I was sorry.
An hour later, I went to check on her. I found my Mom collapsed on the floor. I had contacted 911 and we had paramedics arrive shortly after. They rushed her to Bayfront. Heartbreakingly, my Mom had suffered a stroke that evening. I blame myself. I keep thinking that if I had just called someone else back in November my Mother wouldn’t have been so stressed over the past few months and Mitchell abandoning the job was the last straw for her. I lost my Mom and likely going to lose our house. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Great company I had my mother’s roof replaced along with ours by Mitchell Roofing. They have competitive pricing, great customer service along with professional workmanship. Omar was our representative, he was always there to answer our questions and he was always a telephone/text away to check and make sure we were satisfied with the work and also the completion of the work. THANK YOU OMAR!!!!!!
