My wife and I are completely content with our new roof. Simon, our project manager was amazing, we feel very fortunate to have had Rafael & Iris Roofing do our roof. My wife and I had a previous big project done with another company and it was a horrible and stressful experience. But with Simon, it was a very stress free process the entire project. He took care of every detail and was always there when we needed to ask about something. He provided great updates, his recommendations were full of useful information, and did not just provide one option for the materials. The entire team was amazing, worked quick but precise, and were friendly. For any future plans with our house we will definitely be contacting Rafael & Iris Roofing and highly recommend them to everyone who is thinking of doing some home projects. We hired Rafael and Iris Roofing to reroof our 26,000 square foot apartment building roof in August and September of 2023. It was a complicated job because we have 32 air conditioning units divided amongst 9 zones that are flat portions of the otherwise pitched roof. The pitched roof needed shingles and the flat sections had rotten wood and needed torch down material. Since this job was done during hot Los Angeles summer months, we needed tenants to have their HVAC units functioning as much as possible. Before we got started Aviv (the owner) met with us multiple times and went over every detail of what the steps were and what they would do in each step. They did exactly what they said they would do and stayed on schedule. Aviv and his foremen, Ruben and Alex, planned the entire job in advance so that each tenant would only have their air conditioners disconnected for 1 work day (during which we provided portable AC’s to those who needed it). Aviv provided an HVAC vendor to disconnect and reconnect the HVAC units so we did not have the hassle and expense of trying to coordinate with another vendor to deal with that portion of the job. Ruben and Alex did a fantastic job of communicating with us which units would have no AC which days so that we could keep moving our 8 portable AC units around among the 32 apartments to provide cooling where it was needed. The entire crew was respectful, professional, honest, reliable, and great at communicating with us about everything.
The job took about 5 weeks to do and there were some complications along the way. There was highly unusual, unexpected rain on two different occasions as well as a tropical storm (very heavy rain) that we did know about a couple of days ahead of time. The crew raced to cover the unfinished roof with plastic even on the two occasions when there had been rain in the forecast at all. There was some leaking in a few apartments but the roofers did all they could to minimize the damage. Aviv was very proactive in asking us what tenants had water damages and went to those units and reimbursed them directly for any damages. He hired a painting crew to repaint the ceilings of the few units that had stains from water that had leaked in. Aviv kept insisting that he would deal with any complications and pay for any water damage that happened during the reroofing process and he did exactly what he promised. He hired a cleaning crew to clean the building after the whole process was done because roof work (particularly the demo stage) is quite messy.
Aviv was very clear about what was included in our roof cost and what we might pay extra for once they had removed the 3 old roofs. He did not rip us off by charging tons for the rotten wood that they encountered during the process. After the job was done Aviv walked the whole job with us and insisted that we contact him if we had any problems or if a tenant discovered some water damage that had not been noticed before. Rafael and Iris Roofing’s workmanship and customer service were top notch and we will definitely hire them to do our next building’s roof. In case you are thinking that we must have paid a premium to have such a great experience you are wrong. We got estimates from 8 different companies and Aviv’s estimate was the second lowest. We did not trust the work of the lowest bidding roofer after going through many details with them. I wish all contractors were as reasonable, thorough, honest, reliable, and dependable as Rafael and Iris Roofing while taking pride in their work. We could not recommend them more highly and I also made sure to tell Aviv that he can provide me as a reference to future potential customers.
