“Kristin, sorry you feel like our communication was poor. When we received your request for a quote it was missing some key information like job address and your last name so we had some issues finding your information in our database. We did communicate when were scheduled to look at your home, and the timing on our site visit didn’t change from what we initially discussed. We also apologize that the repairs you needed done did not involve your roof, but rather fascia – which is a siding fix. Unfortunately we are a single trade contractor and don’t do that kind of work.”

Okay, let’s chat about that:

1.) There was never a miscommunication about my name or address. Those things are asked for by your online request form. You had that information going in.
2.) The timing did change on the scheduled time: while we were not given a specific time, we were told: “late morning, early afternoon.” They arrived close to 3pm. We can agree to disagree that 3pm is early afternoon.
3.) No need apologize for the fact that you provide a specific service. My issue is this: I am not in the roofing business. I don’t know what roofers do and don’t do. The “facia” that was damaged in the wind is part of the top of my house. People not in the roofing industry can’t be expected to know the difference. I explained in the original request for service that we had wind damage. I was not asked any other questions by your team. They arrived and inspected the roof. That’s all fine and good but the response I got was a few sentences saying my roof was old and if I’d like to replace it I could give you a call. I expressed there was wind damage and there was zero acknowledgement of that statement. I am aware of the age of my roof. It’s a high cost repair. I know that much. But me being expected to know what you do and do not service with regard to the top of a home is as silly as me expecting you to know the nuances of my job. My issue is that communication with the part of your team that makes appointments and reaches out with quotes is very difficult. Ask questions. Provide customer service. Don’t assume folks know your industry. I appreciate your response and will certainly change my star review, but I encourage a bit more understanding that you provide a service others don’t understand. Be patient with us.

I’m sure they do great quality work. Their communication is terrible. Not worth having to pull information out of them knowing the amount of money we will spend. It shouldn’t be that hard.
